Ethel Caterham's Birthday Celebration Might Be Better Than Yours.

It was National Centenarian Day a few weeks ago, but King Charles got a jump on it early, by rushing off to Surry to visit Ethel Caterham, the oldest person in the world, on her 116th birthday.

Caterham could have been unimpressed. After all, she was born during the reign of Edward VII, and has lived through numerous royals, as well as two world wars, pandemics, the Great Depression and the Russian Revolution. Nonetheless, it appears that she was quite smitten with the King, reminiscing about his coronation at Caernarfon Castle, telling him that "all the girls were in love and wanted to marry him.”

As for the secret to her record-breaking longevity? Ethel says, “Never arguing with anyone, I listen and I do what I like.” You can learn more about Ethel here.
