May the Schwartz Be With You.

At the tender age of 99, Mel Brooks is finally making Spaceballs 2, the long-awaited sequel to his 1987 comedy classic, Spaceballs. As he says, “After 40 years, we asked what do the fans want? But instead, we’re making this movie.” We wanted to rush to the theaters to see the movie, but unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until its 2027 projected release, when Brooks will be 101.

But it’s not just Brooks. He lured the great Ric Moranis out of retirement, at the relatively young age of 73, to reprise his role of Lord Dark Helmet. Also returning are Bill Pullman, age 71, George Wyner, age 79, and Daphne Zuniga, a mere 62.

And if you think this is just another shameless money grab, even Brooks doesn’t deny it. As his character Yogurt said in the original, “God willing, we’ll all meet again in Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money.”
